The Study
Megan Thompson is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership degree at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. The faculty advisor for this study is Dr. Brenda Ellingboe, Adjunct Professor of Organization Leadership at St. Catherine University. This study is called The Impact of Inclusive Leadership Classes on Leaders’ Ability to Facilitate Inclusivity in the Workplace.
This study is intended to address the question “How does a professional learning experience focused on skills, resources and awareness influence managers/leaders to lead more inclusively?”
In order to address this question, I will be conducting an action research project in which I offer professional learners modules in open communication, decision-making and participation.
In the three sessions, participants will learn how each skill creates and furthers inclusion for all members of the workplace. There may be a range of activities (i.e., role play, short video with discussion, individual assessments, and brief lecture) that will allow participants to learn content and then practice the content at each session. Each participant will receive a free workbook with helpful resources and inclusive activities for each of the three classes. Class one will focus on Open Communication, class two will focus on Decision-making and class three will focus on Participation.
